How to make a column only have unique entries?

Hello,

I am unable to find the option to make columns only contain unique entries (and no duplicates). I am looking to utilize this for my two different use cases below:

 1. Human Resources - Managing employees with their unique Employee ID Number
 2. Product Inventory - Managing inventory with their unique Serial Numbers

Please help me find this option since other similar products have this feature. Thank you
