Parent Folder Views

I’m not sure if this is a bug or a feature request - please move if needed.

Parent folders don’t seem to interact with their children.

ex. I create Requirements parent folder with Design and Development subfolders. I add a few items into each folder. I expect Requirements to show all items in Design and Development.

Maybe this is by design?

Hey @richardjohnpaul,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. This is not a bug, rather a software logic.

Parent folders and their subfolders don’t necessarily need to be linked.

Do you think it’s better to be otherwise?

Thanks again

It was my initial expectation so I think I’d like it to work that way.

If the folder heirarchy is just supposed to be a visual organization tool then it makes sense with no interaction, but it also seems less useful.

On the other hand, if the folder heirarchy actually has implications on views it could take away from the super flexible nature of Infinity.

Maybe other users have a use case for having a completely different parent folder item list than children.

Definitely something to think about and gather ideas from other users on.

Maybe there could be a way for us to swap back and forth between the functionality so we could test? Then you could keep track of who uses the functionality and who keeps it off.

Something like a “show children folder items in parent folder” checkbox.

Hi @richardjohnpaul, welcome to the community!

We’re currently working on this feature. You’ll be able to include sub-folders and see all child items in one click.

This will be implemented in a week.

Thanks for the suggestion
