I firmly believe we didn’t give a timeframe for rich text options in Comments, but rather that at one stage of Infinity software, we’ll introduce more advanced options for Comments feature.
We were confident to release Text Formatting Improvements to the Long Text attribute, but we’re still testing the current update, which has been a bit problematic, but nothing we couldn’t fix and solve.
So I can’t give you a precise time for what you’ve asked, but as mentioned before, i believe Comments will receive an upgrade in the future.
Here is the thread I think @etiennejuneau is referenceing:
It was originally for Markdown support, and then evolved into WYSIWYG editing. There was a few other threads later that brought this up again (here’s a couple: Comments Upgrade (v2.0) and Searching for Comments (Comments Upgrade 2.0)), but voting wasn’t part of the forum back then, and I think it got lost in the mass of support that is shown by users here.
The original idea is that markdown could be implemented in a couple of days, and then the concept grew into something more fantastic. I would still love to see this happen! I use the comments All the time and find myself frequently wishing for something a little more. This could be a game changer (because nobody else has it yet).
@etiennejuneau’s idea and feedback with Basecamp’s example of Comments were always in our mind, with both Long Text Editor and Comments Text Editor.
The plan was this: First, implement and publish an improvement for Long Text.
Then, gather the feedback, fix everything and make sure everyone loves it.
As we’ve pushed and tested the feature for roughly 2 months now, it’s time to implement it into the Comments as well. I’m personally hoping that the development will start in a few days.
